sand pillow is knit in the round on a circular needle. the pattern includes different techniques, so that it can be adapted to different levels. the pillow is started either using judy's magic cast, or with a long tail cast on followed by stitches being picked up. the pillow is knitted to a specific measurement. then, the top is either sewn together using stitch stitches, or casted off for an opening for a zipper. this is sewn in according to the instructions in the pattern.
