________

PASTRY CARDIGAN is a chunky, oversized cardigan with an open V-neck and bold cable details.

The cardigan is worked from the top down. The back is worked flat first, shaped with short rows while following a chart consisting of knit and purl stitches as well as cables. Stitches are then picked up along the shoulders for the front pieces, where increases are worked to shape the neckline. The front and back are then joined, and the yoke is worked flat.

The sleeves are picked up and worked in the round in pattern, then finished with ribbing. Finally, stitches are picked up around the neckline, which is also finished with ribbing.

Difficulty: 3 out of 3

Size: 1 (2) 3 (4)

Bust circumference: 140 (160) 180 (200) cm

The cardigan is designed to be worn with 50–70 cm of positive ease. Choose your size based on your full chest circumference.

The model measures 87 cm around the chest and is wearing size 2, giving approximately 53 cm of positive ease.

Yarn: 2 strands of Mellow by Ullen Yarns (50 g = 125 m) (here).

Amount: 1100 (1200) 1300 (1400) g

The sample is worked in the colour Shell.

Buttons: 3 buttons, 22 mm in diameter.

Gauge: 18 stitches and 19 rows in ribbing or the cable pattern on 8 mm needles = 10 × 10 cm after washing and blocking.

Obtaining the correct gauge is essential for the cardigan to fit as intended. If you have fewer stitches over 10 cm, use a smaller needle. If you have more stitches over 10 cm, use a larger needle.

Needles: 8 mm circular needle, 60–100 cm

7 mm circular needle, 60–100 cm

The sleeves and neckline may be worked using either double-pointed needles or the Magic Loop method, according to your preference.
